The International Zeolite Association (IZA) and the Ruhr University Bochum cordially invite academic and industrial researchers to attend the III International Workshop "Layered Materials", which will be held in Bochum (Germany), on May 14-15, 2010.
The conference language is English.
The conference is the third international Workshop on Layered materials organised by the Ruhr University Bochum (RUB) and supported by the International Zeolite Assoziation (IZA).
The first conference held in Alessandria (Italy, 2006) was mainly devoted to outline the structure, properties and applications of synthetic clays and clay minerals. The second meeting in Vercelli (Italy, 2008) presented a broad variety of different types of layered materials describing their chemistry, structure and physical properties in order to enlighten the structure-property relationships.
The present Workshop will focus on the intelligent design of new materials including layered silicates, phosphates, double hydroxides, organic-inorganic hybrids, and others. Newly designed compounds with improved properties can be used for a wide range of applications, from catalysts, membranes, sensor devices to optical and magnetic imaging. The workshop will also focus on characterization techniques like spectroscopy, diffraction and computational methods.
The scientific programme of the Workshop will be divided into four topical sessions. Each session will be introduced by a plenary lecture on the state-of-the-art of the particular topic:
